Group Encaustic Painting Workshops
We offer 3-hour or 6-hour introductory workshops that are ideal for teacher training, student groups, professional development, or teambuilding at our studio in Richardson, or your location.
Beginner/Introductory Workshops:
Learn all the basics about wax paint, mixing color, making medium, substrates, archival quality, proper handling and set up along with a variety of techniques including collage, texture, stencils, fusing and blending with the heat gun, incising, transfers and more.
Once you’ve taken an introductory / beginner workshop; book a group workshop for one of our in-depth Specialties: Vintage Ephemera, Monotypes or 3-D effects and more.
Supplies:
All supplies are included but you may like to bring special papers and printouts to collage or items to embed. We also offer a large variety of encaustic supplies for sale including pigment sticks, medium, encaustic paint and cradled boards to set up your own studio and or school program.
Taking one of our workshops qualifies you to come to our studio for Independent Workday time, additional Specialty workshops and Guest Artist Workshops which take place here as well.
Pricing:
In general; “Introductory” 3-hour workshops are $70.00 per person and $130.00 for the 6-hour workshops per person here at the studio. “Specialty” workshops range from $70.00 to $80.00 per person. In-Depth Specialty Workshops
Intro to Texture
In this mini workshop participants will explore techniques to create sculptural encaustic work in wax.
Intro to Stencils
Incorporate stencils and collage into your encaustic routine. This mini workshop will cover a multitude of ways to add depth, color, pattern, and texture with commercial as well as hand-made stencils.
Intro to Carving
In this mini workshop participants will be shown various ways to build layers of color and texture that can be carved into, adding depth and visual interest within work.
Encaustic Monotypes
Encaustic monotype is a printing technique using wax that allows you to work spontaneously on a variety of papers on our fabulous “HOTBox” designed by Paula Roland. All supplies are included but you may bring your own handmade papers or rice paper.
