Born and raised in Northern California, I have always had a deep appreciation and affinity with the sea and the natural beauty of the Northern California coastline. My paintings reflect my bond with nature and deep love of nature and organic forms. For me, discovery and creative exploration are an essential part of making art. My work is as much about the process of discovery, as it is about the articulation of an idea, a feeling or a place. Creating art is an essential part of who I am and my hope is that my work reflects the deep passion and joy I feel when I am painting. I have been working with encaustic medium for a number of years and love the versatility of the medium.
More recently I have incorporated collage, ink on paper and wax resist techniques into my work. This expansion of my creative process has been heavily influence by my life experiences. I have been traveling to Asia for 16 years and over time, and feel a strong pull towards Asia’s rich culture and beautiful and sophisticated art. When I am there, I often find myself immersed in everyday places, markets, temples, neighborhoods and each leaves a mark that eventually finds its way into my work. I also find the tools (Asian brushes, inks and papers) compelling and beautiful each in their own way. I have been traveling to Asia for 16 years and over time have developed a strong affinity with Asian culture, and their beautiful/sophisticated art forms and practices.
The cost of the workshop is $425.00
