Mini Workshop Sessions

Would you like a quick little workshop in a particular technique or medium? Lets design something just for you! This can be as short as one hour or we can book several hours or days. Popular, so far, have been the 3 hour time slots for 3 weekly sessions.

Please see some of the offerings and pricing below and let me know your area(s) of interest and we'll customize something just for you. All sessions include links to the supplies we'll be using.

Contact me at bonny@theencausticcenter.com for any questions, more info and to schedule your session.

Landscape painting - nice and loose:

Play around with approaches to landscape painting from literal to abstract in oils, acrylic, ArtGraf and or inks.

Abstraction in Oil or Acrylic:

Explore the elements of composition, color, molding paste textures, washes, splashes, opacity, form, line and so much more. This session includes a PDF on abstraction and exercises to help develop your personal vision.

Drawing with ArtGraf Viarco Pigmented Tailor Chalk on Yupo paper:

In this session we'll be working with this beautiful water soluble material, ArtGraf Viarco Pigmented Tailor Chalk, using additive and subtractive methods to create a variety of line quality, washes and form which can be applied to abstraction, non-representational or image based work.

Alcohol Inks, Brusho Inks (and collage optional) on Yupo:

In this session we'll be manipulating inks with various tools to create transparent overlays, utilizing the natural reactions of ink on Yupo to lead the way. The paper can then be cut to collage.

Encaustic Session: Painting, Fusing, Incising and Excavating Shapes

In this session we'll be using a heat gun, incising and loop tools and an iron to create a variety of textures and shapes.

Encaustic Portrait / Figure Painting

In this session, we'll be mixing paints on a palette and using pigment sticks along with various natural brushes to work with the figure. You'll be invited to work from photography, drawing and / or imagination.

Photography and Encaustic:

In this session, I'll be sharing the best papers I've found for printing which also receive encaustic wax and techniques for collage (and scaling up, if interested). We'll work with pigment sticks and paint to enhance the image.

Encaustic, Collage and Texture:

In this session, we'll be using various papers, and natural elements such as grass and fibers with encaustic to create a textural surface.

Encaustic Monotype:

In this session we'll explore various natural fiber - hand made and machine made papers. We'll be working on the HOTBox with Encaustic paint and embellishing with inks, if desired. This is a very freeing, intuitive and active process.

Abstraction in Encaustic Painting:

Explore the elements of composition, color, washes, splashes, opacity, form, line and so much more. This session includes a PDF on abstraction and exercises to help develop your personal vision.
