There are many great brushes on the market. You may like to experiment. Test the hairs to be sure you are not buying one that sheds! A few small brushes I like are Princeton Select lunar blender, Chisel blender, filbert grainer and spotter. Rigger brushes in other brands for thin lines are great.
Canvas: You may like to choose gallery wrap so the staples don't show and the bracing doesn't poke the canvas: 11x14, 16x20 or 18x24 to start. I also sell 16x20 canvasses here at the studio.
Pastels in a variety of colors, are also a great choice to work with ... purchase pastel paper, if so.
