3D Objects: Wire, Plaster and Encaustic! with Bonny Leibowitz

This 3-D object workshop is all about materials, form, surface quality and color. We'll be building various forms with wire, plaster and encaustic. I will be helping participants find unusual, intriguing shapes personal to their natural impulses, all the while pushing for new ways of looking and making.
Participants are welcome to bring, or have on hand, branches or any other objects or materials they may like to incorporate. This workshop includes a talk and Power Point of artists working today with various 3D forms, materials and installations in exciting ways and we'll be winding it all up with ways to hang the works or display on the wall or shelf. During the workshop, I'll be speaking with each participant individually to flush out ideas and discuss ways of moving forward.
No experience necessary. For home Zoomers: this will be a fairly simple set up.
Supply list:
- ACTIVA Rigid Wrap Plaster Cloth, 5 pounds - provided for in-person participants
- Amaco Wireform Gallery Mesh - provided for in-person participants
- Encaustic Medium – $18.00 per pound plus shipping via The Encaustic Center – at least 2 pounds recommended - provided for in-person participants
- Oil paint to mix into medium / encaustic paint - provided for in-person participants - optional
- alternative: using the R&F or Enkaustikos paints, which we sell here, to mix new colors - 20% off.
- Heat gun and / or Iwatani Torch and Butane - provided for in-person participants
- Griddle - provided for in-person participants
- Aluminum tins - provided for in-person participants
- Chip brushes: a few 1", 1.5" and 2" - provided for in-person participants
- Needle nose pliers - please bring or have on hand
- Wire
- GREAT STUFF - optional foam for attaching objects - provided for in-person participants 16 oz. Pestblock Insulating Foam Sealant with Quick Stop Straw - provided for in-person participants
- Scissors
- Participants are welcome to have additional mixed media elements on hand such as fibers, branches and textiles etc.

A $100.00 non-refundable non-transferable deposit holds your space.
Balance Due:
A. The balance due for the In-person workshop of $495 is due TBA.
B. The balance due for Home Zoomers workshop of $395 is due TBA.
Cancellation Policy:
In the event of cancellation after the workshop is paid in full, $485 for In-person participants or $385 for home Zoomers, will be refunded if someone from the waiting list is able to attend.
